echOpen is a community-based and open source project dedicated to design a ultraportable and low-cost ultrasound probe connected to any smartphone. The device aims to provide medical doctor a tool to add a fifth pillar to the clinical examination in general medicine, emergency room, hospitals, underserved medical areas in both northern and southern countries.

The potential impact of the project is major because this non-invasive device allows universal access to diagnosis wherever possible, and for many doctors, it will profoundly transform the clinical approach in medicine by complementing the stethoscope.
