Abstract

ORDeC is a new platform for analog IC design, in which schematics and layouts are entered using a new hardware description language instead of a regular graphical user interface. In contrast to low-level data formats such as SPICE and GDS, the ORD language supports constraint-based and cross-technology design and enables procedural parametrization. The first goal is to offer students and new designers a convenient platform for learning analog/custom IC design using only open source tools (Ngspice, Jupyter etc.) and open-source PDKs. Secondly, ORDeC's data model aims to provide a clean foundation for advanced use cases. In this talk, we will present the current state of project, compare it with existing approaches and provide inputs for further discussion. ORDeC is a DE:Sign project at TU Berlin.
