Abstract
The cloud-based open agile EDA platform integrates full open-source EDA toolchain (Yosys, cocotb, iEDA etc.) with open PDK (ICS55/IHP/SKY130) for open silicon design. It has modern GUI/HCI, flexible server architecture and easy-to-use local/cloud deployment options. This cloud platform has been developed for nearly one year and will be released in 2025Q3 with full web components (frontend render engine, user system, third-party plugins, etc.), ASIC applications (IPs, RTL2GDS flow) and use guide support (lecture notes, slides, LMS, hands-on labs).
In this talk, we will introduce the latest progress of this EDA cloud platform first. Additionally, we will show a full practice on designing an education-oriented test chip (called “retroSoC”) to verify our new end-to-end workflow (Yosys+iEDA+ICS55/IHP130) with cloud platform and demonstrate how easy it is to customize and manage a personalized ASIC backend design, with primary objective to fill the gap between academic and industry. Moreover, we will further share some technical details on our EDA cloud platform and explore the performance boundaries by reimplementing some complicated SoCs on cloud platform. We hope this process can help us figure out performance bottleneck and promote the development of open EDA toolchain to make it suitable for various industry application scenario in the future. Finally, we will discuss the development directions of the cloud platform.
