Abstract
IHP GmBH generously open-sourced its PDK for the SG13G2 process in 2023, including support for design with open-source tools like xschem, klayout, ngspice, and OpenROAD. The roadmap included future support for additional popular tools, and over the past year, IHP contracted Efabless to provide support for the magic VLSI layout tool, with its parasitic extraction models and interactive DRC engine; and the netgen LVS tool. Although additional work was interrupted by the shutdown of Efabless, development will continue in other forms with LibreLane (formerly Openlane 2) support for OpenROAD on IHP, including OpenRCX support; a full set of parameterized device layouts for magic, with analog and mixed-signal flow integration and thermal analysis. These additions widen the scope of what's possible for open-source designs with IHP SG13G2.
